Comments from past guests in "Casa Rosa"
Dear Giovanni

The "Casa Rosa" was really nice. Very clean and comfortable. The only thing we were surprised was the really very small street to the house. It is really very small so that we women didn't want to drive the car anymore. The place "Gravedona" is really very nice, the beach so clean and we enjoyed the stay very much. The houselady was also very nice and we enjoyed the swimming pool and the fine weather. The size of the apartment was right for our 2 families. Thanks.

If you have some other destination directly at the lake please tell us, maybe next year we will come again the lake of Como.

Kind regards,

The Fromm family loved Casa Rosa......

The trip was fabulous. We especially enjoyed the accommodations in Gravedona and Sesto Calende. The rooms were great and the staff were kind and helpful. The family in Gravedona was particularly helpful and charming and gracious. Their lovely pool made us feel like we were royalty.

I look forward to working together in the future.

We had a great stay in Casa Rosa, and although communication was not easy due to language barriers we really liked the owners. Our 6 year old daughter played with their grand-daughter and they were quite helpful. The property was extremely clean and comfortable. The road to the lake was very steep and narrow – it was actually a bit scary the first time but by the end of the week we were used to it. We really liked it would recommend it to others.

We had a great time and the accommodation and environment was what we were looking for. The property was nice, clean and well kept.

Thank You, Francis L. - London - summer 2005

Dear Giovanni,

We wanted to thank you for recommending to us the apartment "Gelsomino" in Gravedona. we had an amazing vacation in Italy and the apartment was just perfect: perfect view, quite atmosphere, great kitchen and new bathroom allowed us to feel at home in Italy. We also want to express our thanks to Simone who was so helpful and one of the few people we met who spoke english therefor able to help us with any questions we had.

Gio, we enjoyed our stay on Lake Como. As you know, the owner speaks no English, but her daughter was there and speaks quite well. I probably should have made arrangements to have some food available when we arrived as we never stopped for dinner, but we just got out first thing the next morning to the nearby grocery store. We enjoyed the very peaceful setting (although, when i left a window open at night, I was awakened by barking dogs in the distance and then by church bells starting at 7 am-so I kep the window closed.

We did encounter a few problems; there was a nice filter type electric coffepot, but no filters. We looked for filters in the grocery store but they had none so we used the espresso pot instead. It would be nice to have written instructions for turning the water heater and gas rangetop on and off (we were really tired when we arrived and didn't really process things that well), but we did okay with trial and error.

My biggest complaint would be the lack of a nice comfortable chair in which to sit and read a book; the couch was not particularly comfortable and the somewhat poor lighting did not allow more than one person to read on the couch. Also, we were asked by both yourself and Simona to call if we had any questions or problems, but this is impossible without a phone. I'd guess most people renting this apartment come from Europe and carry a cell phone with them. Also, we were told by Simona that if we turned on the heat, there would be an extra charge for the gas used-I would usually presume this charge to be included in the rent (we didn't need the heat...)

All in all we were satisfied with the accomodation and would recommend it to friends; I doubt anyone not Italian could rent it without a car...

Comments from past guests in "Apartment Isabella"
Giovanni,

Many, many thanks for a wonderful stay in Domaso. We had a great spin around Italy our last day (Milan, Pisa, Florence and back to Lugano.) Trip home was very smooth.

But I thought you might like to know that your bath seems to have a leak. I took a bath on Saturday evening, and when I got out there was a large pool of water outside the bath near the sink. You may want to fill the bath up past all the jets and see if that happens again. I didn’t use the jets. The water seemed to be coming out from underneath.

I hope you’re able to get the awning fixed without too much trouble. That was quite a storm. You shouldn’t have gone through so much trouble to welcome us to Italy J

Thanks again for all your kindness. Please send me the link for all of your properties. I’m sure we’ll be back in Italy again soon.

Many blessings,

PS. I’ve got a great photo from your balcony. Let me know if you’d like me to send it from my Mac. It’d be superb for promo purposes

When
May 2007, 1 week

Location
The apartment is on one of the villages on Lake Como. The ferry stop is very close but there is no train service here. Bus service is also minimal and we did not try it. A car is probably a good idea if you want to see the area. The ferry has good service but boat rides do take time but a great way to travel. Giovanni can also arrange for taxi service with a very pleasant English-speaking driver. We used this taxi service from the train station and also to take us to Lugano.

We liked this area for rest and relaxation and very slow travel. Apartment was simple and clean and we loved the view. There is also three flights up to the apartment, which we did not mind at all.

Nearby Amenities
It has all the conveniences of a village: grocery store, cafes, bakeries, restaurants, other shops within 2-10 minutes of the apartment. A much bigger supermarket is about a 15-20 minute walk. Also, on the Wednesday we were there, a truck selling fresh local trout was parked across from the apartment building. Great trout at a very small price.

The House/Apartment
The website is a good representation of the apartment. Lots of windows for light and views.

Garden
No garden but there's a balcony with lounge chairs and table - great place to enjoy wine and the ever changing views of mountain, lake and sky.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas
The furniture was in good shape and comfortable. The apartment is simply but sufficiently furnished and clean.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms
The bed is comfortable and there is lots of storage space. There is a big window in the bedroom with views of other houses and the mountains.

The bathroom is good-sized with a shower.

Kitchen
The kitchen is very usable with regular range and dishwasher. There are pots and pans, dishes, etc. There are no cooking or cleaning supplies however but the grocery store is only a minute away.

As a general rule, we do not go out to eat. We do a lot of cooking and this kitchen is good for that.

Problems or Bonuses
A surprisingly beautiful view from the balcony and all the windows. It snowed up in the mountains on our second night and it looked simply beautiful.

Agency and Representatives (and price)
Giovanni, is very friendly - easy and good to deal with. And he speaks very good "Canadian" English!

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Definitely recommend this apartment but suggest renting a car if you want to get around.

Things to do in this area
Ferry rides to the other villages, lots of walking and simply gazing at the views. There is a very old church and a cemetery worth visiting.
